In this era, the world is full of noise. So much noise most of the time we lose focus of what really matters to us. You’re getting email notifications, text messages and notifications from the 101 social media platforms you have.
You wake up and the first thing you check is your phone. You don’t plan to go to bed, you fall asleep while chatting on social media. The distraction from the numerous apps on your phone is just too much! On top of that, you have to work, you have to attend to all sorts of distractions from complaining customers, bosses, colleagues, family members… it’s overwhelming and endless. You go back home exhausted but yet empty.
It is highly important to start your day by defining a clear purpose for the day. In addition to that, you need to connect yourself to God before you allow any other thing to take your attention. The few minutes you spend after you wake up, can determine how your day goes. Give your mind and soul a treat before you jump into the day. Sit, let go of all the thousand and one things you have to accomplish, connect yourself to divinity first!
Sit idle for 15 – 20 minutes
In the course of the day when you’ve been hit with so many forms of distractions, you need to reset yourself. Re-energize yourself from within. It’s easy but difficult for most of us.
Just put everything aside, yes put your phone aside, don’t even take a book with you. Now go somewhere quiet, somewhere you can be alone and just sit (or stand if you want).
Don’t worry about anything, just sit idle. Don’t eat, don’t drink anything, just stay put let your mind wonder.
In the beginning it’ll be hard but I promise you this is not a waste of time at all. With time, your mind will make use of this time to release creative ideas, you’ll feel much calmer afterwards and you’ll be able to face the rest of the day in a more composed way!
Try it! Enjoy it! 🙂
